Mumbai Police have traced the digital trail of a threatening audio message sent to Bollywood actor Aamir Khan to a Sweden-based virtual private network (VPN), even as investigators continue efforts to identify the person behind the communication.
According to police sources, the viral audio message, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was sent using a VPN and the Tor browser, making it difficult to determine the sender’s actual location. Investigators are analysing digital evidence to establish the identity of the person responsible.
Sources said the audio clip features a person identifying himself as Arzu Bishnoi, who allegedly accuses Aamir Khan of promoting “love jihad” and claims such actions are against Indian culture and Sanatan Dharma. The message also contains a threat to “teach Aamir Khan a lesson.”
Police sources said no FIR has been registered in the matter so far. Authorities reportedly traced the initial IP address to Sweden but suspect the location may have been masked through online anonymity tools.
The alleged threat follows an earlier social media post dated July 18, purportedly issued by individuals identifying themselves as Arzu Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi, who claimed links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post accused the actor of promoting “love jihad” and warned of consequences. Police are also examining that post as part of the investigation.
According to sources, the alleged threat came to the notice of the police through a Facebook post and a voice note circulating online.
Aamir Khan recently married his longtime partner, Gauri Spratt, in a private registered ceremony at his Mumbai residence on July 5.
