India’s strong presence in international cricket rankings continued on Wednesday as Shubman Gill reclaimed the top position among ODI batters, while 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a remarkable jump into the top 50 of the T20I batting rankings.
Gill returned to the No. 1 ODI batting spot after New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell slipped from the summit. Mitchell had held the position since January, but his absence from recent international matches allowed the Indian opener to regain the top ranking.
The biggest movement in the latest ICC rankings came in the T20I batting charts, where Sooryavanshi surged 230 places to reach a career-best 48th position.
The teenager impressed during India’s 3-0 T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe in Harare, scoring 151 runs at an average of 50.33 and earning his maiden Player of the Series award. His performances helped him accumulate 536 rating points and break into the top 50 for the first time.
India’s dominance in the T20I batting rankings continued, with wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan retaining the No. 1 position. Kishan scored a match-winning 81 during the Zimbabwe series and reached 910 rating points.
Tilak Varma also moved up two places to sixth, while Shreyas Iyer climbed seven spots to 24th. Among bowlers, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi made a significant rise, moving 31 places to 41st after taking three wickets in the series against Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe players also gained ground despite the series loss. Ryan Burl moved six places to joint 85th among T20I batters, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani climbed 10 spots to 26th in the bowling rankings.
The latest update also reflected performances in Test cricket. West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves climbed to 48th among Test bowlers and ninth in the all-rounders’ rankings after his impressive showing against Pakistan. West Indies pacer Jayden Seales moved to 24th, Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas rose to 17th, and Babar Azam advanced four places to 15th among Test batters.
