Security forces on Tuesday demolished a memorial allegedly erected by Naxalites during a joint search operation in Toyapara village under Dhanora Police Station limits in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Chhattisgarh Police and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) with assistance from local villagers as part of ongoing searches in areas that have recently been cleared of Naxal influence.
Officials said the memorial was constructed by a Naxal organisation to project its presence and serve as a propaganda symbol in the region. The demolition was carried out as security agencies continue efforts to remove visible signs of the banned organisation’s influence.
Authorities said the area has been cleared of active Naxal presence and security forces are now focusing on eliminating remaining symbols and preventing any attempt to revive extremist activities.
Narayanpur Police and other security agencies have been conducting sustained anti-Naxal operations across the district aimed at strengthening security, restoring normalcy and creating a favourable environment for development in affected villages.
Officials said the operations are being conducted in a planned manner to ensure that Left Wing Extremism does not regain ground in the region. Local residents have been cooperating with security personnel by providing information and support during search operations.
Narayanpur Police has appealed to residents to immediately share any information related to Naxal activities with the nearest police station or security forces. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, officials said.
Authorities said continued security operations, along with development initiatives, are helping rebuild public confidence and strengthen administrative presence in areas previously affected by Naxal activities.
