Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a blind murder case within seven hours of discovering the body of a teenage boy in northeast Delhi, with two juveniles being apprehended in connection with the crime.
According to the police, information was received at New Usmanpur Police Station around 11:30 a.m. on July 28 about the body of a young male lying in a pit inside a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) park near JPC Hospital.
A police team rushed to the spot and found the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be around 18 years old, with multiple stab injuries. A blood-stained knife was also recovered from the scene. The body was shifted to JPC Hospital for preservation and post-investigation formalities.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team examined the crime scene and collected forensic evidence. Subsequently, an FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at New Usmanpur Police Station, and an investigation was launched.
Police said multiple teams were formed under the supervision of ACP Seelampur Malkiyat Singh and the leadership of Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector K.L. Yadav. Investigators analysed CCTV footage, carried out technical surveillance and developed leads that led to the identification of the deceased as Saad alias Nami (16), a resident of Behta Hajipur in Loni, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Further investigation led to the apprehension of two juveniles, aged 16 and 17 years, who are also residents of Behta Hajipur.
According to the police, the two juveniles allegedly confessed during questioning that they worked in a factory and were frequently bullied by the deceased. Investigators said they allegedly lured him to the DDA park on July 27 on the pretext of buying slippers. An argument reportedly broke out at the spot, after which they allegedly stabbed him and fled.
Police said the knife allegedly used in the murder and the clothes purportedly worn by the juveniles during the incident have been recovered. Further investigation is in progress.
