Punjab Police conducted 641 raids across the state on the 190th day of its ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, leading to the arrest of 313 people allegedly linked to gangster activities.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab free from gangster networks, was launched by Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. District police teams, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been carrying out targeted operations against gangster associates and criminal networks.
According to police officials, teams arrested 313 individuals and recovered one weapon during the latest operation. With these arrests, the total number of persons held since the launch of the campaign has reached 54,204.
Besides arrests, preventive action was initiated against 255 individuals, while eight proclaimed offenders were also apprehended during the statewide drive.
Punjab Police appealed to citizens to share information related to wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946. Officials said information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 515th day. During the latest action, 121 alleged drug smugglers were arrested and 8.7 kg heroin, 580 grams opium, 2 kg poppy husk, 848 intoxicant pills and ₹4.18 lakh drug money were recovered.
Police said the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 74,965 in 515 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also motivated 15 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
