Punjab BJP President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday paid obeisance at Gurdwara Gurusagar Mastuana Sahib in Sangrur during his first visit to his home district after assuming charge as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab unit.
During the visit, Dhillon offered prayers at the historic shrine associated with Sant Baba Attar Singh Ji, expressing gratitude to the Almighty and seeking peace, prosperity and the welfare of the people of Punjab.
The management of Gurdwara Gurusagar Mastuana Sahib honoured the Punjab BJP chief with a Siropa (robe of honour) as a mark of respect and blessings.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Dhillon thanked the BJP leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party in Punjab. He said he would carry out his duties with dedication, honesty and commitment.
Launching a political attack on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Dhillon alleged that the state administration had failed to meet public expectations during its four-and-a-half-year tenure.
He claimed that people from different sections of society were dissatisfied with the government’s policies and performance, adding that the BJP was emerging as a credible alternative for the people of the state.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future prospects, Dhillon said the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was committed to bringing good governance, public welfare and economic prosperity to Punjab. He added that the party drew inspiration from the ideals of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji’s Sarkar-e-Khalsa and aimed to restore Punjab’s status as a prosperous and progressive state.
Several senior BJP leaders, office-bearers and party workers accompanied Dhillon during the visit.
