Actress Karisma Kapoor on Guru Purnima reflected on the role of mentors in an artiste’s journey, saying her upbringing in a family with deep roots in cinema taught her that a true guru goes beyond teaching skills and helps shape an individual’s artistic expression.
The India’s Best Dancer Season 5 judge shared her thoughts while highlighting the influence of family members and legendary filmmakers she worked with throughout her career.
“Growing up in a family deeply rooted in cinema, and working with legendary masters on set, I learned early on that a true Guru doesn’t just teach you steps, they teach you how to own the stage with your soul,” Karisma said.
She added that watching the passion and dedication of contestants on the dance reality show reminded her of the guidance she received from her mentors. She expressed gratitude towards those who taught her to connect with art emotionally and hoped the same inspiration would continue to reach young performers.
Other judges of India’s Best Dancer Season 5 also shared their thoughts on the occasion.

Meanwhile, actor Rajeev Khandelwal said his parents were his first gurus and credited them for teaching values that continue to guide him.
