Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ on Sunday through video conferencing, marking the beginning of a nationwide campaign aimed at engaging young people in the fight against drug abuse and promoting a drug-free India.
The initiative will be rolled out as a Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) movement, led by MY Bharat youth volunteers, with the objective of encouraging youth across the country to actively contribute to the vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ while advancing the broader goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Following the Prime Minister’s launch, activities are scheduled to take place simultaneously at nearly 10,000 locations across India. More than one crore youth are expected to participate by taking a national pledge against substance abuse.
According to the official statement, Prime Minister Modi will call upon young citizens to become ambassadors of positive social change within their communities and play a leading role in creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction.
As part of the campaign, weekly programmes will be organised every Sunday across the country. These will include sports competitions, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural events, awareness drives, nukkad nataks, discussion forums, art competitions and various community engagement activities to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The campaign also includes a recognition mechanism for volunteers and organisations making notable contributions, with honours planned at the 50th, 75th and 100th week milestones.
The initiative is built around the message that “drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat” and seeks to strengthen public participation in achieving a healthier society and the national development vision for 2047.
