Punjab Police on Sunday intensified its statewide crackdown on organised crime by conducting 587 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates as part of the 194th day of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign.
According to official information, the special anti-gangster drive, launched on January 20, 2026, under the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, is being carried out jointly by district police teams and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) across Punjab to dismantle criminal networks and curb gangster activity.
During Sunday’s operation, police arrested 313 individuals and recovered two weapons. With these arrests, the total number of people apprehended under the campaign has reached 55,539 since its launch.
In addition, preventive action was initiated against 193 individuals, while 11 proclaimed offenders were also arrested during the statewide operation.
Punjab Police has appealed to citizens to assist the campaign by anonymously sharing information related to gangsters, wanted criminals and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the state’s parallel anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, entered its 519th day with police arresting 85 alleged drug smugglers across Punjab.
During the operation, police recovered 5 kg of heroin, 4.5 kg of poppy husk, 443 intoxicant pills and ₹12,320 in suspected drug money. The cumulative number of arrests made under the anti-drug campaign has now reached 75,237.
As part of rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 12 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, reinforcing the government’s focus on both enforcement and recovery in its campaign against substance abuse.
