Death Toll in Pakistan Police Station Suicide Blast Rises to 15, Including Six Policemen

Islamabad, August 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The death toll in the suicide bombing outside the Kabal police station in Pakistan’s Swat district has risen to 15, including six police personnel, as authorities continue rescue, investigation and security operations in the aftermath of the attack.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Ome said the victims include six members of the police force, while nine civilians sustained injuries and 25 critically injured people are undergoing treatment at Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.

The blast occurred outside the police station in Kabal, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at a time when hundreds of people had gathered nearby for a public demonstration at Kabal Chowk.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malakand, Syed Fida Hussain, said the police station is situated close to police lines and several other sensitive government installations, raising concerns over the intended target of the attack.

Following the explosion, security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The bombing comes just days after another major attack on law enforcement personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier this week, armed assailants attacked the Khazina Banda checkpost in Hangu district, killing at least nine police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and injuring 28 others.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, the attackers in the Hangu assault were affiliated with Fitna al Khawarij, the term used by the Pakistani state for militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He said police personnel responded to the attack while reinforcements were immediately dispatched to the site.

The latest incidents underscore the continuing surge in militant violence targeting security forces in Pakistan, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
