Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov Arrives in India to Deepen Strategic Partnership

New Delhi, August 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, arrived in New Delhi on Monday on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan across key sectors, including trade, investment, connectivity and technology.

Welcoming the visiting dignitary, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal extended a warm greeting through a post on social media, marking the beginning of Saidov’s visit, which will continue until August 5.

During his stay, the Uzbek Foreign Minister is scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and hold bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He will also participate in a business forum in the national capital to explore new opportunities for expanding commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The visit comes amid sustained efforts by New Delhi and Tashkent to broaden collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, energy, digital technology, education, innovation and regional connectivity.

Ahead of the visit, Jaishankar and Saidov held a telephonic conversation on July 20, during which they reviewed bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to further strengthen engagement in trade, investment and other priority sectors. Both leaders also agreed to maintain regular and trust-based dialogue between their respective foreign ministries.

India and Uzbekistan have witnessed growing diplomatic engagement under their strategic partnership framework. In May, officials from both countries met in New Delhi for the 17th round of Foreign Office Consultations, where they reviewed progress in bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The consultations also focused on enhancing cooperation in tourism, energy, digital innovation, education and investment, while reaffirming the commitment of both countries to strengthen coordination in international forums and facilitate future high-level exchanges.

Saidov’s visit is expected to inject fresh momentum into India-Uzbekistan ties and further expand cooperation between the two strategic partners in Central Asia.
