Actor Sunny Deol visited Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib in Bihar along with his son Karan Deol, seeking blessings ahead of the release of their upcoming film Batwara 1947. The father-son duo shared moments from their spiritual visit, expressing gratitude after offering prayers at one of Sikhism’s holiest shrines.
Sunny posted a series of photographs on social media, showing the duo paying obeisance at the historic gurdwara and receiving Kada Prasad. Describing the visit as deeply meaningful, the actor said he felt “truly blessed” to have prayed at the sacred birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib holds immense significance in Sikhism as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, who was born in Patna in 1666. The shrine is also associated with the visits of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, making it one of the five Takhts revered by Sikhs worldwide.
Sunny and Karan are currently in Bihar as part of the promotional campaign for Batwara 1947. The film features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Preity G. Zinta, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.
Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, the film explores the emotional upheaval experienced by a family caught amid violence, displacement and uncertainty. It also marks Preity Zinta’s return to the silver screen after an eight-year hiatus.
Batwara 1947 is believed to be inspired by acclaimed playwright Asghar Wajahat’s celebrated work Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, which reflects on humanity and communal harmony during the Partition era.
