Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday expelled former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth from the party for the second time, citing indiscipline and activities against party interests.
Senior BSP leader Randhir Singh Beniwal has also been removed from the party with immediate effect.
In a post on X, Mayawati said the action was taken against both leaders for violating party discipline and guidelines. She recalled that Ashok Siddharth had earlier been expelled over similar charges related to party functioning and coordination issues during elections.
Mayawati said Siddharth had been reinstated earlier with the expectation that he would not repeat such mistakes. She added that he was assigned responsibilities related to expanding the party’s support base in states outside Uttar Pradesh and was not given organisational duties within the state.
The BSP chief also made it clear that Siddharth would not be re-inducted into the party in the future.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam has been reappointed as BSP in-charge for Punjab along with other states and will continue handling responsibilities during the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections and subsequent Lok Sabha polls.
Mayawati also announced that senior party functionaries or coordinators from Uttar Pradesh who are currently assigned responsibilities in other states will not be given organisational roles within Uttar Pradesh under the party’s current policy.
Appealing to party workers, she urged them to remain alert against elements attempting to weaken the BSP’s campaign and said the party remains focused on forming its government in Uttar Pradesh.
The latest action comes a day after Mayawati asserted that she would personally finalise candidates for upcoming elections, ruling out speculation about nephew Akash Anand’s role in candidate selection and reiterating her position as the final authority in the party.
