India enjoyed a flawless day in the boxing competition at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Jaismine Lamboria advanced to the women’s 57kg semifinals, guaranteeing herself a medal and completing a clean sweep of six Indian quarterfinal victories on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old boxer from Haryana defeated England’s Elise Glynn by a 4-1 split decision in a closely contested bout. Four judges scored in Jaismine’s favour with cards of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27, while one judge awarded the contest to the English boxer.
A bronze medallist in the lightweight category at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Jaismine has continued her impressive rise in recent years. Her achievements include the 2025 World Championship title in Liverpool, two World Boxing Cup gold medals in the featherweight division at Astana and New Delhi, and a bronze medal at the 2021 Asian Championships in Dubai.
Her victory capped a remarkable day for the Indian contingent, with Narender (90+kg), Ankush (80kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg), Arundhati Chaudhary (70kg) and Sakshi (51kg) also booking semifinal berths to assure themselves of medals under the Commonwealth Games format, where both losing semifinalists receive bronze.
Narender edged past Samoa’s Michael Seko by a 3-2 split decision, while Ankush dominated his contest against Micock, earning a unanimous verdict after controlling all three rounds with superior ring craft and counter-attacking.
Sachin Siwach also progressed with a commanding 5-0 unanimous decision, while Sakshi outclassed Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers in another unanimous victory to reach the last four. Arundhati Chaudhary overcame New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson by a 3-1 split decision after producing a disciplined tactical display.
India had already secured three boxing medals on Tuesday. Mandengbam Jadumani Singh reached the men’s 55kg semifinals after defeating Mwale Mwengo by unanimous decision, while Priya advanced to the women’s 60kg semifinals with a 4-1 win over Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell.
Preeti also guaranteed a podium finish after a dominant 5-0 victory over Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the women’s 54kg quarterfinals, producing one of India’s most convincing performances of the tournament.
With nine boxers now assured of medals, India’s boxing campaign continues to gather momentum as the competition enters the semifinal stage.
