Forces Trying to Weaken Sikh Institutions Must Be Identified: Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj

Amritsar, July 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj on Tuesday called upon the Sikh community to remain vigilant against forces attempting to weaken Sikh institutions, asserting that the principles of Miri-Piri clearly establish that politics must remain subordinate to religion and not the other way around.

Addressing the Sangat during the ongoing Miri Piri Khalsa March, Giani Gargaj said the Sikh Panth has never accepted and will never accept interference by any government in its religious affairs. He alleged that certain elements, driven by political interests, were attempting to undermine Sikh institutions and urged the community to identify such forces.

He said the primary objective of the Miri Piri Khalsa March is to reinforce the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, inspire the youth to stay away from drugs, reconnect them with Sikh heritage, and spread the message of Gurmat across villages and towns.

Emphasising unity, Giani Gargaj said the Sikh Panth can continue to flourish only by remaining united under the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the teachings of Gurbani. He urged the community to strengthen mutual brotherhood, remain alert against anti-Panthic forces, and dedicate themselves to serving the poor and the needy.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami reaffirmed that the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib is absolute and cannot be challenged.

He said Sri Akal Takht Sahib, established by the Sikh Gurus, is the eternal and supreme temporal seat of the Sikh faith, and any attempt to question its authority runs contrary to Sikh traditions and principles.

Dhami appealed to the Sikh community to remain united in safeguarding the dignity of Sikh institutions, preserving Panthic unity, and upholding the ideals of Gurmat.

The Miri Piri Khalsa March, which commenced from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to promote Panthic unity, awareness and Sikh values among the youth, entered its sixth day on Tuesday. The march departed from Gurdwara Takhtupura Sahib in Moga district for its next destination, Gurdwara Jamni Sahib, Bajidpur, in Ferozepur district.

Before the march resumed, a religious congregation was held at Gurdwara Takhtupura Sahib, where Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Granthi Giani Parvinderpal Singh addressed the Sangat on Sikh history. Following the Ardas, the sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was ceremonially placed in the Palki Sahib by Giani Parvinderpal Singh, while Advocate Dhami performed the seva of Chaur Sahib.

The procession received a warm welcome from devotees at several villages and towns en route, where members of the Sangat paid obeisance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. A bus displaying historical weapons associated with the Sikh Gurus and Sikh martyrs, along with vehicles carrying portraits of Sikh martyrs, remained a major attraction throughout the march.

A large number of SGPC members, Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, religious personalities and devotees participated in the programme.
