40 Lakh Newly Registered Women to Receive ₹1,000 from August 1, Says Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

Rupnagar, July 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday announced that around 40 lakh women who have recently registered under the state government’s financial assistance scheme will begin receiving benefits from August 1, with ₹3,000 to be credited to eligible beneficiaries and ₹4,500 to women belonging to Scheduled Caste communities.

The announcement was made while addressing a large gathering at the state-level ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’ Bhajan Sandhya held at the Government College grounds in Rupnagar. The event witnessed a massive turnout of devotees, with devotional chants filling the venue as noted singer Hansraj Raghuwanshi presented bhajans dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government was returning public money to the people through welfare initiatives, adding that this was the reason the Opposition was uncomfortable with the government’s programmes.

Emphasising Punjab’s tradition of communal harmony, Mann said people of all faiths in the state have always celebrated religious festivals together, including Ram Navami, Guru Purabs, Shaheedi Samagams, Hanuman Jayanti and Eid. He asserted that while Punjab’s fertile land can nurture every crop, “the seeds of hatred can never take root” in the state.

The Chief Minister said his government remains committed to preserving peace, brotherhood and social harmony while focusing on empowering the youth through education and skill development. He urged people to reject divisive agendas and work collectively towards building a prosperous, drug-free and progressive Punjab.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to promote religious tourism, Mann said the Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojana has enabled thousands of devotees to undertake free pilgrimages to prominent religious destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Naina Devi Ji, Haridwar, Khatu Shyam Ji Maharaj and Salasar Balaji. He said the scheme is open to people of all communities and income groups.

The Chief Minister also said the state government has extended equal respect to all religions by organising commemorative events, including programmes marking the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, while preparations are underway to celebrate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.

The programme concluded with devotional performances by Hansraj Raghuwanshi as thousands of devotees participated in the religious gathering organised by the Punjab Government.
