Bollywood actor Sunny Deol and his son Karan Deol arrived in Patna on Sunday to begin promotions for their upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’.
The father-son duo was spotted at the Patna airport, where they interacted briefly with the media before leaving for their scheduled engagements. The actors arrived in casual attire and were surrounded by media personnel at the airport.
Speaking about the choice of Patna as the first stop of the promotional tour, Sunny said the city was the first destination in the film’s planned city visits. He also highlighted that ‘Batwara 1947’ marks his first collaboration with his son Karan.
The trailer of the film showcases the emotional impact of the Partition of India, portraying the humanitarian crisis, displacement and social upheaval that followed during the country’s transition to independence from British rule.
Directed as a historical drama, the film features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Preity G Zinta, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. The story follows a family whose lives are transformed amid violence, fear and forced migration, while focusing on themes of compassion, resilience and hope during one of the most challenging periods in history.
The film has reportedly faced restrictions in Pakistan, adding further interest around its release. It also brings together the creative team of Aamir Khan, composer A.R. Rahman and lyricist Javed Akhtar, known for their collaboration on the acclaimed film ‘Lagaan’.
‘Batwara 1947’ also marks the reunion of director Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
