Chhattisgarh CM Announces Rs 20 Lakh Aid for Families of Kulgam Terror Attack Victims

Raipur, August 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each for the families of two migrant workers from the state who were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The two workers, identified as Deepak Ratray (24) and Bhopinder Kumar (28), were employed at a brick kiln in Kelam (Kellam) village of Kulgam. Terrorists targeted them at the workplace on July 31, 2026. Ratray died on the spot, while Kumar, who suffered serious chest injuries, succumbed during treatment the next day.

Condemning the attack, Chief Minister Sai described the killings as a painful and inhuman act. In a message shared on X, he said the state government stood with the bereaved families and would provide all possible assistance.

Sai announced that the families of both deceased workers would receive Rs 20 lakh each. He also said a nodal officer would be appointed to coordinate with the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure timely support and assistance.

Paying tribute to the victims, the Chief Minister prayed for peace for the departed souls and strength for their families to overcome the loss.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma also condemned the attack, calling it a cruel act. He said the terrorists allegedly spoke with the workers for around 10 minutes before opening fire.

Sharma said the government was committed to acting against those involved in such extremist activities and ensuring that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
