India’s Sakshi delivered a commanding performance to win the women’s 51kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating England’s Ruby White by a unanimous decision in the final on Saturday.
Sakshi dominated the contest from the beginning, using her quick footwork, precise combinations and disciplined defence to keep her opponent under pressure throughout the three rounds.
The Indian boxer secured the opening round 10-9 on all five judges’ scorecards before increasing her control in the second and final rounds. She continued to land clean punches while preventing White from building any sustained momentum.
The judges unanimously awarded the bout to Sakshi, with scorecards reading 30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 30-26 and 30-27, confirming a comprehensive victory for the Indian boxer.
The gold medal capped an unbeaten campaign for Sakshi and added another major achievement to India’s impressive boxing performance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Sakshi’s victory further strengthened India’s dominance in women’s boxing at the Games, with Indian boxers continuing to produce top-class performances across multiple weight categories.
Earlier, Jaismine secured the women’s 57kg gold medal after defeating Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Preeti also claimed gold in the women’s 54kg category with a dominant 5-0 victory over Canada’s S.S. Delgado.
The latest victories added to India’s growing gold medal tally in boxing and highlighted the country’s rising strength in the sport on the international stage.
