Actress Adrija Roy, who is currently seen as Raahi in the popular television show ‘Anupamaa’, has opened up about friendships in the entertainment industry, saying that building genuine and lasting bonds in showbiz is not always easy.
In an exclusive statement shared with IANS, Adrija said she does not have many friends from the industry because the competitive nature of the profession often makes it difficult to develop deep relationships based on trust and honesty.
“I don’t have many friends from the industry. I’m not saying it’s impossible to find genuine people here, but it’s definitely not easy. This profession is naturally competitive, and trust takes time to build,” she said.
The actress added that meaningful friendships depend on honesty, consistency and mutual respect, rather than the number of people in one’s social circle.
Adrija said most of her closest friends are from Kolkata and have been part of her life since before she entered acting. She shared that these childhood friendships allow her to remain completely herself away from the pressures of the entertainment world.
Speaking on Friendship Day, the actress highlighted her special bond with her childhood friend Rimpa, whom she considers more like a sister. Adrija said Rimpa has stood by her through difficult phases of life with constant support and unconditional care.
She also spoke about maintaining friendships despite demanding work schedules, saying that relationships require regular effort. According to her, small gestures like a phone call, video chat or a thoughtful message can help keep bonds strong.
Adrija Roy has been part of several television shows, including ‘Potol Kumar Gaanwala’, ‘Durga Aur Charu’, ‘Imlie’ and ‘Kundali Bhagya’. She currently portrays Raahi in ‘Anupamaa’.
