The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday announced that counselling for NEET UG 2026 admissions under the All India Quota (AIQ) will begin from August 4, with the undergraduate medical academic session scheduled to commence on September 8.
The NTA said the counselling schedule for both All India Quota and State Quota seats has been released.
As per the schedule, the first round of counselling for All India Quota, deemed universities and central universities will be conducted from August 4 to August 17. The last date for joining allotted seats will be August 22, while verification of joined candidates will take place on August 23.
For State Quota seats, the first round of counselling will be held from August 13 to August 22. Candidate verification will be completed on August 29.
The second round of All India Quota counselling is scheduled between August 24 and September 2, while the second round of State Quota counselling will take place from August 31 to September 8.
The NTA said the admission process will continue through the third round and stray vacancy filling rounds, with October 10 set as the final date for joining under both All India Quota and State Counselling.
In a communication to medical colleges, the agency directed participating institutions to continue admission-related work on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays to ensure timely completion of the counselling process.
“The data of joined candidates will be shared by DMEs/State Counselling Authorities to MCC for weeding out during seat processing of Round-3,” the NTA said.
The NTA had declared the NEET UG 2026 re-test results on July 16 following protests by students over alleged irregularities in the examination held earlier. The Centre had subsequently announced action against 47 NTA officials and initiation of legal proceedings in connection with the matter.
