Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday released Kannada translations of the Valmiki Ramayana and Stories of Vedanta Monks during the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as Viveka Smaraka, at the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru.
Highlighting the importance of the publications, the Prime Minister said the Kannada editions would help connect readers, especially the younger generation, with India’s rich spiritual, literary and philosophical traditions through their mother tongue.
Modi said such initiatives would encourage youth to understand and engage with the country’s cultural heritage while strengthening their connection with India’s timeless values.
After the event, the Prime Minister shared photographs of his visit to the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama and his interaction with monks on social media. He praised the institution’s efforts towards social service and youth empowerment.
During his visit, Modi interacted with monks of the Ashrama and appreciated its continued contribution to education, value-based learning and community service inspired by the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.
BJP Yuva Morcha National President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya described the inauguration of Viveka Smaraka as a historic occasion for Karnataka and a tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s legacy.
Surya said the memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Mysuru in 1892 and would serve as a source of inspiration for young people across the country.
He said the centre was not only a memorial but also a platform to motivate youth to follow Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and contribute towards building the India of the future.
