Actress Meera Deosthale says her real-life love for cooking came in handy while shooting ‘Jhatpat Aarti’, an episode of the new season of the streaming series ‘Hasratein’, as she ended up preparing snacks for her co-actors.
Meera plays Aarti, a small-time cook who creates cooking videos but faces judgment over her dreams and ambitions. The character, however, refuses to allow societal expectations to determine her future and remains determined to pursue her goals while protecting her self-respect.
The episode also features Zaan Khan in a pivotal role.
Sharing her experience of playing Aarti, Meera said the character was particularly enjoyable because of their shared interest in cooking.
“Playing Aarti in the web series ‘Jhatpat Aarti’ was really fun. Aarti is great at cooking and makes cooking videos, and I also love cooking in my real life. It helps me relax and feel better, so whenever I get free time, I cook a lot at home,” she said.
The actress said she also put her culinary skills to use during the shoot.
“Even on set, I tried making snacks during the shoot. Once, I made besan ka chilla and my co-actors and director loved it,” she added.
For Meera, the episode carries a larger message about perseverance and women pursuing their aspirations despite challenges.
“‘Jhatpat Aarti’ tells every woman not to give up. Fight your problems, move forward, and keep working towards your dreams. One day, your dreams will come true,” she said.
The new season of ‘Hasratein’ will present six stories centred on women and their experiences with love, relationships, family, societal expectations and important life choices. Each episode will feature a different story and cast.
‘Jhatpat Aarti’ will premiere on Hungama OTT on September 3.
