Punjab Police on Sunday conducted 517 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks, arresting 354 people and taking preventive action against another 205 individuals.
The campaign, launched by Punjab Police chief Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make the state free of gangster activity. Police teams from districts across Punjab are carrying out the operations in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 66,400. Police also arrested five proclaimed offenders during Sunday’s operation.
The police said residents can anonymously provide information about wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as tips concerning crime and criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 547th day. As many as 65 alleged drug smugglers were arrested during the day, while police recovered 5 kg of heroin, 180 intoxicant pills and Rs 900 in drug money from their possession.
The cumulative number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 76,716 over 547 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded three individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Sunday.
