Actress Amrita Rao looked back on her experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan as their political drama ‘Satyagraha’ marked 13 years since its release on Sunday.
Rao shared a video montage on her official Instagram account featuring memorable moments from the Prakash Jha-directed film, which was released in India on August 30, 2013.
Marking the anniversary, the ‘Vivah’ actress wrote, “Satyagraha Anniversary today…Beautiful memories the most beautiful memory is of working with non other than Amitabh Bachchan Sir…@amitabhbachchan.”
The film featured an ensemble cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Rampal, Amrita Rao, Manoj Bajpayee and Vipin Sharma, among others.
Produced by Prakash Jha, Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under Prakash Jha Productions and UTV Motion Pictures, ‘Satyagraha’ was released in the UAE on August 29, a day before its India release.
The film explores themes of corruption, protest and sacrifice through the story of retired teacher Dwarka Anand, played by Bachchan, who loses his son in a rigged accident. The incident triggers a wider movement led by Manav (Ajay Devgn), journalist Yasmin (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and activist Arjun Singh (Arjun Rampal) against corrupt minister Balram Singh (Manoj Bajpayee).
Anjum Rajabali and Prakash Jha wrote the film, with Sachin K. Krishn serving as cinematographer and Santosh Mandal as editor.
Rao made her Bollywood debut with ‘Ab Ke Baras’ in 2002 and gained wider recognition with ‘Ishq Vishk’ in 2003, in which she starred alongside Shahid Kapoor.
She subsequently became known for her girl-next-door image through films including ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004) and ‘Vivah’ (2006).
Rao was last seen in the legal comedy-drama ‘Jolly LLB 3’, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi.
