Modi made the remarks after being warmly received by members of the Indian community during his bilateral visit to Uzbekistan.
“Overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the Indian community in Tashkent. Our diaspora is a living bridge between India and Uzbekistan, strengthening the bonds of friendship between our nations,” Modi said in a post on X on Saturday.
He also praised an Indian-Uzbek cultural performance presented by members of the community, saying the fusion of musical traditions reflected the deep cultural connect between the two countries.
“A captivating fusion of Indian and Uzbek musical traditions! The Tabla blends beautifully with the Doira and Chang, showcasing the deep cultural connect between India and Uzbekistan,” he said.
During the interaction, several women from the Indian community tied rakhis on Modi’s wrist. The Prime Minister also watched cultural performances by artists, including children, and interacted with them after their performances.
Earlier, Modi visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument in Tashkent and laid a wreath alongside Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Upon landing in Tashkent, went to lay a wreath at the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument with President Mirziyoyev. The Yangi Uzbekistan Monument reflects the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people. Glad to begin my visit by coming here,” Modi said.
The two leaders also visited Yangi Uzbekistan Park, where they examined artworks depicting Uzbek culture and history.
Modi thanked Mirziyoyev for personally receiving him at Tashkent airport at the start of his two-day State Visit.
“Landed in Tashkent to a warm welcome by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Grateful to him for the special gesture. This is my fourth visit to Uzbekistan, reflecting the depth and growing momentum of our bilateral relations,” Modi said.
Mirziyoyev’s presence at the airport was seen as a special gesture underscoring the close ties between the two countries, which have strengthened significantly over the past 12 years.
The Prime Minister’s visit is aimed at further deepening India-Uzbekistan bilateral relations, including cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
