The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on Sunday successfully conducted the NEET-PG 2026 examination across the country, with 2,65,980 candidates appearing for the postgraduate medical entrance test.
The examination was scheduled for 2.73 lakh candidates at 1,111 centres spread across 339 cities covering all 36 states and Union Territories.
According to NBEMS, the nationwide examination was conducted largely smoothly, supported by extensive coordination among examination authorities, medical institutions, faculty members, security agencies, technology teams and other stakeholders.
A technical disruption caused by power supply issues in Jaipur, however, prevented 2,445 candidates from completing the examination.
NBEMS said a re-examination for the affected candidates will be conducted in Jaipur on September 5 during the second half of the day. The examination body expressed regret over the inconvenience and said the affected candidates would be provided venue details and other instructions shortly.
The examination was conducted under real-time monitoring and enhanced security arrangements. NBEMS appointed 2,527 faculty members as Independent Appraisers to oversee the examination process.
More than 700 senior faculty members, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were deployed as members of Flying Squads.
To strengthen nationwide coordination and monitoring, 16 NBEMS Regional Command Centres were also made operational.
All examination centres were placed under live CCTV surveillance, with continuous monitoring from the NBEMS Command Centre at its headquarters in Dwarka. A dedicated team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and TCS was deployed for real-time surveillance.
NBEMS thanked candidates for their cooperation, patience and trust during the examination and acknowledged the contribution of personnel and institutions involved in conducting the nationwide test.
