As many as 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries have been listed as unaccounted for following a mudslide at Gyirong Port on the Tibet-Nepal border in Xizang on August 26, local authorities said on Sunday.
Officials said 49 Indian nationals are among those unaccounted for.
The figures were released at a press conference by the information office of the regional government after foreign affairs, public security, culture and tourism, and emergency management authorities jointly searched the affected area and cross-checked available information.
The unaccounted foreign nationals include 104 from Nepal, 49 from India, 33 from Latvia, 18 from the US, 15 from the UK, six each from Canada and Australia, four from South Africa, three each from Malaysia, Germany and Russia, two each from Ireland, Estonia, France, the Netherlands and New Zealand, and one each from Kazakhstan, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal, Ukraine, Spain and Hungary.

Chinese authorities have informed the respective embassies and consulates in China about the situation, according to the press conference.
Following multiple rounds of searches, site inspections and verification of individuals at the port, authorities said no foreign tourists are currently stranded in Gyirong County.
Meanwhile, the disaster has caused extensive casualties in neighbouring Nepal. The country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said 675 bodies had been recovered from affected areas, while 2,498 people remained missing.
According to Nepal’s Department of Tourism, 753 tourists had lost contact as of 5:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, including 589 foreign nationals.
The Kathmandu District Administrative Office has appealed to associations, institutions, businesses and individuals to donate relief materials for victims in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
The floods, triggered by a sudden surge in the Bhote Koshi River, caused widespread destruction, damaging hydropower projects, roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
