New Delhi, August 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News) President Droupadi Murmu will attend the NIFT Combined Convocation 2026 as the Chief Guest on Monday, with graduating students from 18 campuses of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) coming together to mark the completion of their academic journey.
The convocation will recognise the academic excellence, creativity, dedication and achievements of graduating students, the Ministry of Textiles said in an official statement.
The ministry said the ceremony would celebrate a generation of students who have learned to translate ideas into possibilities and creativity into meaningful impact. As they move into professional life, the graduates are expected to contribute to India’s evolving fashion and creative landscape through innovation and new ideas.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh will also attend the ceremony, along with other dignitaries, members of the Board of Governors, senior officials, faculty members, scholars and graduating students.
Outstanding students from each programme across NIFT campuses will be honoured with gold medals for securing the highest CGPA.
The combined convocation will be followed by campus-wise degree distribution ceremonies, during which graduating students will formally receive their degrees and transition from academic life to their professional careers.
Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, NIFT is a statutory institute governed by the NIFT Act, 2006. Over the years, it has emerged as a leading institution for fashion education, integrating traditional arts and crafts with academic learning, design innovation, technology, creative thinking and industry engagement.
NIFT currently has 20 professionally managed campuses across the country and provides students with an inclusive learning environment aimed at developing the knowledge, skills and creative capabilities required for India’s fashion and wider creative industries.
