India’s Preeti clinched the gold medal in the women’s 54kg boxing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating Canada’s S.S. Delgado by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the final at SEC Hall 5 on Saturday.
The Indian boxer dominated the contest from start to finish, with all five judges awarding her each of the three rounds 10-9 to hand her a comprehensive 30-27 victory.
Preeti also registered a knockdown during the bout, highlighting her control and superiority over her Canadian opponent.
Displaying impressive footwork, accurate combinations and disciplined tactics, the Indian pugilist kept Delgado under pressure throughout the contest and prevented her from gaining any momentum.
Her commanding performance earned unanimous approval from the judges and secured one of India’s most convincing boxing victories of the Commonwealth Games.
The gold medal adds to India’s growing medal tally in Glasgow and continues the country’s strong showing in the boxing competition.
