NDA Holds ‘Mangal Milan’ Strategy Meeting as Centre Pushes Anti-Cheating Bill; NCPI MPs Attend for First Time

New Delhi, July 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday convened its Parliamentary Party meeting, titled ‘Mangal Milan’, at the Parliament Library Building, with discussions taking place against the backdrop of the Centre’s push to pass the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.

The meeting marked the first participation of MPs from the NCPI, including Kakoli Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy and Saayoni Ghosh, who had earlier been associated with the Trinamool Congress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the meeting along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of State Jitendra Singh and other NDA parliamentarians. The leaders assembled at the G.M.C. Balayogi Auditorium for the alliance’s parliamentary strategy session.

The meeting assumes significance as the government seeks support for the proposed anti-cheating legislation while the Opposition prepares to challenge the Centre over allegations of police excesses during recent student protests at Jantar Mantar.

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday by Minister of State Jitendra Singh amid persistent sloganeering by Opposition members.

The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, by introducing tougher legal provisions aimed at curbing examination-related malpractices. The amendments provide for imprisonment of up to 10 years, fines of up to Rs 10 crore, confiscation of assets of convicted offenders and a mechanism to ensure cases are decided within three months.

‘Mangal Milan’ serves as the NDA’s revamped weekly parliamentary coordination meeting, focusing on legislative strategy, floor management and greater coordination among alliance partners. The forum also facilitates participation by MPs from constituent parties, including the Shiv Sena, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janata Dal (United) and other regional allies in parliamentary debates and legislative business.
