Zelensky Arrives in UK for Talks with New Prime Minister Andy Burnham

London, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the United Kingdom on Monday for talks with newly appointed Prime Minister Andy Burnham, with defence cooperation, air defence and joint military production expected to dominate the agenda.

Announcing his arrival in a post on X, Zelensky said his visit would include a bilateral meeting with Burnham as well as interactions with Ukrainian military personnel currently undergoing training in the UK, including those who participated in the multinational Sea Breeze exercises.

The Ukrainian President described the relationship between Kyiv and London as the strongest in the history of bilateral cooperation, highlighting continued collaboration in defence and security.

“The key priorities are air defence, maritime security, and joint defence production – our cooperation that strengthens both countries. We value that we can always count on Britain’s principled decisions, leadership, and support,” Zelensky said.

Earlier in the day, Zelensky revealed that he had held a telephone conversation with Burnham, expressing confidence that their first in-person meeting would open “a new chapter” in relations between the two countries.

Among the key proposals Zelensky intends to discuss is a broader defence partnership centred on drone technology. He said Ukraine wants to establish a major drone manufacturing facility in Britain and share the expertise it has gained during the war.

“I want to build a big factory in Britain based on new technologies and share them with our partners. We are ready to share all our experience with the UK,” he said, adding that he hoped both countries would strengthen what he described as a “Drone Deal.”

Zelensky also proposed expanding cooperation in missile technology, noting Ukraine’s capabilities alongside the UK’s Storm Shadow missile system. He said the two countries should work together on future defence technologies, including the development of a European anti-ballistic air defence system.

He added that training, technology sharing and investment would be essential to strengthening the long-term strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
