India and Cote d’Ivoire on Monday discussed ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, enhance military-to-military engagement and explore areas of mutual interest during high-level meetings in New Delhi.
Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh held discussions with Chief of Air Staff of the Cote d’Ivoire Air Force Major General Koffi N’Guessan Alfred at Air Headquarters. The visiting military chief was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour ahead of the meeting.
The Indian Air Force said the discussions focused on issues of mutual interest and identified avenues to further strengthen defence ties and cooperation between the two air forces.
Earlier, Major General Koffi N’Guessan Alfred met Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, where both sides discussed ongoing and potential areas of defence collaboration and ways to enhance the operational capabilities of the Ivory Coast Air Force.
The Ministry of Defence said the meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral defence relations and expand cooperation in the defence sector.
During his visit, the Cote d’Ivoire Air Force chief also paid homage to Indian soldiers at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. He laid tribute to the brave personnel of the Indian Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
Signing the visitors’ book at the memorial, Major General Koffi N’Guessan Alfred described it as a great honour to pay respect to India’s fallen soldiers. He conveyed solidarity and respect on behalf of the Ivorian Air Force and the Armed Forces of Cote d’Ivoire.
He also expressed hope that the memorial would continue to preserve the memory of India’s fallen heroes and further strengthen friendship between the Indian Air Force and the Ivorian Air Force.
