CJP Claims Government Assured Protection for Protesters After Late-Night Talks

New Delhi, July 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday claimed that government representatives have assured it that protesters in Bihar, Assam and Rajasthan would not face legal action, following a late-night meeting held amid concerns over alleged police action against demonstrators.

According to the CJP, the nearly three-hour meeting resulted in assurances that cases against protesters would be withdrawn, detainees released, and additional notifications issued by the Union government and BJP/NDA-ruled states to extend similar protections.

In a statement posted on social media, CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the government representatives shared notifications issued by the Bihar and Assam governments, which, according to the party, provide for the withdrawal of FIRs, release of those detained or arrested, and protection from future legal action.

Das further claimed that the government had reiterated its commitment to issuing additional notifications by the following day using language agreed upon during the discussions. He also said the party had received assurances that no legal proceedings would be initiated against protesters in Rajasthan and that no FIRs had been registered there.

Addressing supporters through a video message, Das said CJP representatives had sought written guarantees after expressing concerns that earlier verbal commitments might not be implemented. He added that discussions also focused on encouraging other state governments to adopt similar measures to ensure uniform legal protection for protesters across the country.

The latest statement came hours after the CJP warned of fresh demonstrations if assurances regarding legal safeguards were not honoured.

The movement, led by Abhijeet Dipke, concluded its protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the weekend following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, one of the organisation’s key demands. The government has not publicly responded to the CJP’s latest claims.
