The Central Government has outlined the objectives of its Corporate Mitra Scheme, an initiative aimed at strengthening the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector by creating a network of trained para-professionals to provide affordable compliance and business support services, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
As part of the outreach for the programme, the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Shillong, functioning under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, organised an awareness webinar for youth, students, professionals, MSMEs and entrepreneurs in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to an official statement, the scheme is designed to support the growth of MSMEs by improving access to quality professional services while simultaneously equipping young graduates with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills. The initiative is aligned with the broader goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Under the scheme, accredited Corporate Mitras will assist small businesses with non-core operational requirements, including regulatory compliance, taxation, accounting, financial management and corporate governance. By handling these essential support functions, they are expected to enable MSMEs to focus more effectively on innovation, expansion and business growth.
The government plans to implement the programme across the country with an initial target of 2,000 participants, including 200 candidates from the North Eastern Region (NER). To encourage wider participation, candidates from the region will receive a 50 per cent concession in programme fees.
For implementation in the Northeast, IICA Shillong has been designated as the nodal agency responsible for coordination with state governments and other stakeholders.
The government said the Corporate Mitra Scheme seeks to build a formal, financially sustainable and competitive MSME ecosystem by creating a pool of qualified, accredited and trusted professionals capable of supporting enterprises across the country.
