Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has shared an emotional tribute to his mother Prakash Kaur, dedicating his upcoming film Batwara 1947 to her and mothers across the world.
The actor shared a picture with his mother on Instagram on Monday and described her as his source of love, courage and strength. In his post, Sunny wrote, “Meri Maa hi mera Rab hain. Mera pyaar, mera hausla, meri taaqat,” saying that he dedicates the film to his mother and every mother.
The actor also announced that the trailer of Batwara 1947 will be released soon.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the historical drama is among the much-awaited films of the year. The film features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.
Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, Batwara 1947 explores the human impact of one of the most significant events in history. The film focuses on themes of love, sacrifice, courage and resilience while portraying the struggles faced by people during the turbulent 1940s.
The film marks the reunion of filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. It also brings together the creative team of producer Aamir Khan, composer A.R. Rahman and lyricist Javed Akhtar, who previously collaborated on the acclaimed film Lagaan.
Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, Batwara 1947 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
