Five minor girls have gone missing from a government-run girls’ shelter home in Bihar’s Begusarai district, triggering an intensive search operation and raising serious concerns over security arrangements at the facility.
According to officials, the girls were found missing from the shelter home located in the Ratanpur police station area on Sunday morning. The shelter home authorities promptly informed the police, following which the district administration launched a coordinated search and issued an alert across the district.
Superintendent of Police Manish visited the shelter home to assess the situation and review the ongoing investigation. He questioned the warden and other staff members to ascertain how the girls left the premises and whether the incident involved negligence, abduction or any larger conspiracy.
Police have constituted special investigation teams to trace the missing minors. Search operations are being carried out across Begusarai and adjoining areas, while CCTV footage from the shelter home and nearby locations is being examined for possible clues.
Investigators are also using technical surveillance and digital evidence as part of the probe. The district police are working in coordination with the District Child Protection Unit and the Child Welfare Committee to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Security agencies have intensified checks at railway stations, bus stands and other transit points where the girls may have travelled. Officials said the safe recovery of the minors remains their highest priority.

The incident has also sparked questions over the safety protocols and monitoring mechanisms at the government-run shelter home. Police officials expressed confidence that the missing girls would be traced and said appropriate action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
