Jaipur, July 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A farmer from Rajasthan’s Bikaner district has been arrested for allegedly sharing a One-Time Password (OTP) to activate an Indian mobile SIM card that was later found to have been used in Pakistan, with investigators probing a possible connection to the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti gang.
The arrest was made by Bajju police following intelligence inputs received by the Jaipur Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from security agencies.
The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar Bishnoi, a farmer from Gaudu village under the Bajju police station area. According to police, he allegedly provided the OTP on July 17 to facilitate activation of an Indian SIM card.
Bajju Station House Officer Chandravir Singh said the investigation so far has revealed that the SIM card was subsequently activated and used in Pakistan. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant legal provisions based on the evidence collected during the probe.
Police said Bishnoi was allegedly contacted by Ujjer, an operative linked to the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti gang, who reportedly persuaded him to arrange an Indian SIM card and share the activation OTP.
Investigators suspect that the SIM card may have been used for unlawful activities in Pakistan. Preliminary findings have also indicated possible links between the gang and groups involved in terrorist activities, prompting a detailed security investigation.
The arrest was carried out after coordination between the Jaipur ATS and Bikaner Police. Acting on directions from Bikaner Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa, a Bajju police team conducted the operation and detained the accused.
Police are now examining whether the accused had previously shared Indian SIM cards, OTPs or other sensitive information with individuals based across the border. The accused is being questioned as investigators attempt to determine whether the case is part of a wider cross-border network.
