Sukhjinder Randhawa Targets Amit Shah Over Alleged Use of Force Against Protesting Students

Chandigarh, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has criticised the alleged use of force against protesting students in Bihar and Delhi, demanding an explanation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the reported deployment of weapons and security action during the demonstrations.

Randhawa joined Opposition MPs in a protest outside Parliament, where he questioned the alleged pointing of AK-47 rifles at students in Bihar and the use of pellet guns against protesters in Delhi. He said such actions against students peacefully raising their demands have no place in a democratic system.

Holding the Union Home Ministry responsible for the functioning of central security agencies and forces, Randhawa said the Home Minister must clarify who authorised such measures and why force was allegedly used against protesting students.

He also supported the Opposition’s demand seeking accountability from the Home Minister and called for a fair investigation into the incidents. Randhawa demanded strict action against officials found responsible for ordering or carrying out any unlawful action.

“Students are the future of the country, and their voices cannot be suppressed through force or weapons,” Randhawa said, adding that governments should engage with protesting students and resolve their concerns through dialogue rather than coercive measures.

He maintained that democratic institutions must respect the right to peaceful protest and urged authorities to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
