Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday congratulated Sagar’s Yamini Maurya for winning the silver medal in the women’s 57kg judo event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, calling her achievement a proud moment for the state.
The Chief Minister said Yamini’s success reflected the dedication, discipline and hard work of Madhya Pradesh’s athletes, especially its daughters. He added that her performance would inspire young sportspersons across the state to aim for excellence at the international level.
“Yamini’s silver medal at the Commonwealth Games and her historic achievement at the World University Games are an inspiration for every young person in the state, especially our daughters. Her success has shown that the daughters of Madhya Pradesh are fully capable of bringing glory to the country on the international stage,” Yadav said.
He also congratulated Yamini’s coach Deepak Kumar and other trainers, acknowledging their contribution to her achievement.
Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang also praised Yamini’s performance, saying her medal was a matter of pride for both the state and the country. He said the success of athletes from Madhya Pradesh reflects the strengthening sports environment in the state.
Yamini, who belongs to Sagar district, secured the silver medal after an impressive campaign in the women’s 57kg judo category at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The achievement adds to her growing list of international accomplishments, including her historic performance at the World University Games.
Her success has further highlighted the contribution of Madhya Pradesh athletes to India’s medal campaign at the Commonwealth Games.
