Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar today conducted surprise inspection of the RTO office Mohali and the driving test track located in Sector 82 and took the stock of the ongoing operations.
Speaking with the media persons, the Cabinet Minister announced that all the RTO services will soon be digitized online, enabling citizens to access services from home rather than making repeated visits to government offices.
During his visit to the RTA office, the Transport Minister personally visited public service counters, obtained detailed briefings from staff about ongoing work and engaged directly with citizens who had come to complete their documentation. He inquired about the challenges they were facing.
Citizens present at the occasion appreciated the work of the RTO office and praised the cooperation of officials and staff. The Cabinet Minister issued on-the-spot directions to officials for immediate resolution of public grievances.
S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is committed to administrative reforms and bringing transparency to government operations.
The Transport Minister reviewed the tax collection system and stressed that enforcement action should be implemented against those who fail to pay taxes or have incomplete documentation. He verified staff attendance at the RTO office, which was found to be 100 percent.
The Cabinet Minister instructed RTO officials and staff that citizens coming for transport-related work should not face any inconvenience whatsoever. He said that if anyone has incomplete paperwork or other deficiencies, he should be provided complete information so that people don’t have to make repeated visits to the office.
He informed that the government has already digitized most RTO services online and the remaining services will also be made available online shortly.
The Transport Minister also conducted a surprise inspection of the driving test track located in Sector-82, Mohali. He said that Mohali’s new driving test track has been constructed using advanced technology, which prevents any individual from taking a driving test on behalf of another person.
The entire track is equipped with CCTV cameras, which ensures completely transparent testing for both two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles, with the pass rate for four-wheelers at 40 percent and two-wheelers at 82 percent. Such advanced technology will also contribute to reducing road accidents.
He said that this technology will be implemented across all tracks throughout Punjab in the coming days.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal, RTO Mr. Rajpal Singh sekhon, Chairperson District Planning Board Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur and other officials were present on this occasion.
