Rohtak, August 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A 23-year-old woman, identified as Muskan, the wife of international kabaddi player Sheelu Balhara, allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Rohtak district of Haryana, police said.
Muskan, a resident of the Meham area, had married Sheelu Balhara in December 2023. The couple also had a son, Hardik, who was born in November last year.
Police officials reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and started an investigation. A forensic team was also called to examine the scene and collect evidence.
Officials said the exact reason behind the alleged suicide has not been established so far, and all aspects of the case are being examined.
Investigators are looking into Muskan’s recent activities and personal circumstances as part of the probe. Reports suggested that she had shared a reel on a Punjabi song on social media a day before the incident; however, police have not linked it to the incident.
The incident has brought renewed focus on cases involving alleged distress among married women. In recent months, several similar incidents have been reported in different parts of the country, with families in some cases alleging harassment or domestic pressure.
Police officials said further investigation into Muskan’s death is underway and action will be taken based on the findings.
