A grand religious programme dedicated to Lord Shiva, titled ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’, will be organised at Dussehra Ground in Hoshiarpur on August 11, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa said on Saturday.
The event will begin at 6:30 pm, with renowned singer Kailash Kher scheduled to present a devotional performance.
MLA Jimpa and Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Advisor Deepak Bali visited the Dussehra Ground along with administrative officials to review preparations for the programme. They inspected various arrangements and directed officials to ensure proper facilities for devotees, including security, traffic management, parking, drinking water, cleanliness and medical assistance.
Jimpa said thousands of devotees are expected to attend the large-scale religious event and all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.
Deepak Bali said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is extending full support for the arrangements and facilities required for devotees. He added that Chief Minister Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal are expected to attend the programme as devotees to seek blessings of Lord Shiva.
Bali said the event is not only a religious gathering but also a symbol of faith, culture and social harmony, strengthening the spirit of unity and brotherhood among people.
Jimpa said the programme represents the collective faith and cooperation of the entire region rather than any single organisation. He added that local temple committees, religious bodies and social organisations are working together to make the event successful.
He appealed to people from Hoshiarpur and adjoining areas to participate in the programme with their families and become part of the religious and cultural gathering.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nidhi Kumud Bambah, SP Navneet Kaur and officials from various departments were also present during the inspection.
