India’s Jaismine delivered a commanding performance to win the women’s 57kg boxing gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, defeating Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the final on Saturday.
Competing at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Jaismine controlled the bout from the opening round with her accurate combinations, quick movement and clean punching, keeping Walsh under constant pressure throughout the three-round contest.
All five judges scored the final in favour of the Indian boxer, confirming her dominance in the gold-medal clash. Three judges awarded the bout 29-28, while two judges gave a 30-27 scoreline, resulting in a comprehensive unanimous victory.
Jaismine displayed excellent composure and tactical awareness throughout the fight, effectively countering Walsh’s attacks while maintaining control of the pace. Her ability to land sharper punches and defend against her opponent’s advances proved decisive in securing the top podium finish.
The victory adds another gold medal to India’s boxing campaign at Glasgow 2026 and further strengthens the country’s impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games.
Jaismine’s triumph also marks another significant achievement for Indian women’s boxing on the international stage.
