India delivered its finest-ever performance in Commonwealth Games boxing by winning a record seven gold medals at the Glasgow 2026 Games on Saturday, surpassing all previous achievements in the sport at the multi-sport event.
The historic campaign saw Preeti (54kg), Jaismine (57kg), Sakshi (51kg), Priya (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg) and Ankush Panghal (80kg) emerge as gold medallists. Jadumani Singh (55kg), Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) and Narender (90+kg) added silver medals, taking India’s overall boxing tally to an impressive 10 medals.
The seven-gold haul eclipsed India’s previous best at the Commonwealth Games. At the Birmingham 2022 edition, India had won seven boxing medals, including three gold, one silver and three bronze, finishing level with Northern Ireland in total medals but behind on gold count.
Among Saturday’s standout performances, Preeti dominated Canada’s S.S. Delgado with a unanimous 5-0 verdict in the women’s 54kg final, registering a knockdown during the bout. Jaismine outclassed Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh 5-0 in the women’s 57kg final, while Sakshi produced another flawless display to defeat England’s Ruby White by the same margin in the women’s 51kg title clash.
Priya clinched the women’s 60kg gold with a hard-fought 4-1 split-decision victory over Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh. Arundhati Choudhary overwhelmed England’s Chantelle Reid 5-0 to secure the women’s 70kg title.
In the men’s competition, Sachin Siwach edged Namibia’s Tryagain Morni Ndevelo by a narrow 3-2 split decision in the 60kg final, while Ankush Panghal defeated England’s D. Shittu 4-1 to claim the 80kg gold.
The landmark performance underlined India’s growing dominance in international boxing and marked the country’s most successful boxing campaign in Commonwealth Games history.
