Iran Warns UK Against Military Cooperation With US in Any Strikes on Tehran

Tehran, August 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warned Britain against any military cooperation with the United States for carrying out strikes against Iran, saying such involvement would be unacceptable.

Araghchi made the remarks during a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, according to a statement issued by Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday. He said any cooperation with what he described as “aggressors”, including under existing defence arrangements, would not be acceptable.

The Iranian foreign minister criticised Britain’s recent policies towards Tehran, referring to London’s designation of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as a national security threat and what he called Britain’s involvement in conflicts imposed by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Araghchi urged the British government to review its approach towards Tehran and said that allowing a country’s territory or facilities to be used for attacks against another state would amount to an act of aggression under international law and the Convention on the Definition of Aggression.

He claimed that Iran had entered diplomatic talks with the United States in good faith and signed a memorandum of understanding with Washington in June aimed at ending the conflict, but alleged that the US failed to fulfil its commitments.

Araghchi also referred to Iran’s efforts to establish operational arrangements with Oman regarding shipping movement through the Strait of Hormuz, warning that interference by third parties could further complicate the situation.

Miliband, according to the Iranian statement, said Britain was not involved in the war against Iran and maintained that diplomacy remained the preferred route for resolving disputes.

The comments come after reports that Britain has continued allowing the use of its military facilities by the United States for operations linked to Iran, a policy carried forward from the previous administration.

The tensions follow a major escalation between Iran, the United States and Israel, with both sides exchanging strikes and military actions in recent months. The developments have also heightened concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.
