Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal walked out of a public meeting in Rajasthan’s Churu district after repeated disruptions by a group of youths during his address, with a video of the incident going viral on social media.
The incident took place late Sunday night during the inauguration of an RLP office in Chhapar town. A video shows Beniwal stopping his speech, expressing anger over the disturbances, throwing the microphone on the stage and leaving the venue.
Beniwal was addressing party workers and supporters when some youths in the gathering repeatedly shouted and interrupted his speech. Initially, he appealed to them to maintain discipline and allow the programme to continue peacefully.
During the exchange, Beniwal questioned the behaviour of the youths and asked them to respect the event. However, as the interruptions continued, he expressed his displeasure and announced that he would not return to the venue again.
“I will not come here again. I am leaving without delivering the speech,” he said, while questioning why the organisers had failed to control the situation.
He also asked whether the disruption was politically motivated and questioned the organisers over not taking action against those creating the disturbance.
Before leaving the stage, Beniwal had spoken about Churu’s political significance and claimed that he had supported the people of the district during difficult times. He also criticised some leaders for later aligning themselves with the BJP and Congress.
The RLP leader also questioned the organisers for seating school-going children at a late-night event and said proper arrangements should have been made to maintain discipline.
The office inauguration programme on Ratangarh Road in Chhapar was scheduled for 7.15 pm on Sunday, but Beniwal reached the venue around 11.30 pm. Local organisers said around 4,000-5,000 people attended the event. He addressed the gathering for nearly 40-45 minutes before ending his speech abruptly.
The incident has since sparked political discussions in Rajasthan.
