Punjab State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu on Monday called on General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM, at Chandimandir and held discussions on India’s rich military heritage and its enduring legacy.
During the meeting, Sandhu presented his artwork, “Peacock – The Glory of India”, symbolising the nation’s cultural pride. He also presented his coffee table book, “Sukhna Lake at Dawn”, dedicated to the 75th year of the making of Chandigarh and celebrating the city’s architectural, cultural and natural heritage.
Sandhu further presented his research publication, “Wheat Fields of Punjab – The Spirit of Vaisakhi”, which documents Punjab’s agrarian heritage and highlights the enduring bond between the Indian Army, the land and its people.
The interaction reflected a shared commitment to promoting and preserving India’s military heritage alongside Punjab’s rich cultural and agrarian legacy. It also highlighted the enduring connection between the country’s armed forces and its heritage.
Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh felicitated Sandhu by presenting him with the Western Command insignia, a symbol of the Indian Army’s valour, service and enduring legacy.
The interaction at Chandimandir marked a meaningful engagement focused on recognising and preserving India’s distinguished military tradition and its connection with the nation’s wider cultural heritage.
