Punjab Police conducted 651 raids across the state on Monday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks, arresting 460 people and recovering five weapons.
The operation marked the 216th day of the campaign, which was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making the state free of gangster-related activities. Police teams from districts across Punjab have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
With Monday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 64,218. Police also took preventive action against 250 individuals and arrested nine proclaimed offenders during the latest operations.
The police said the raids were conducted at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters as part of efforts to disrupt criminal networks and prevent their activities.
The department has also appealed to citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 541st day. Police arrested 77 alleged drug smugglers during the latest operations and recovered 6.8 kg of heroin, 40 kg of poppy husk, 193 intoxicant tablets and Rs 1,800 in suspected drug money.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested since the beginning of the 541-day campaign has reached 76,388.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 13 individuals to undergo treatment for substance dependence on Monday.
