The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that 33 Pakistani security personnel were killed and several others injured in 36 operations carried out across different parts of Balochistan over the past week.
In a statement issued on Sunday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch claimed that the group targeted Pakistani military personnel, convoys and other vehicles at multiple locations across the province.
According to the statement, BLA fighters ambushed a Pakistani Army convoy and commercial vehicles between Dalbandin and Yakmach in Chaghi district on August 18. The group claimed the attack lasted more than 30 minutes and left three soldiers dead and several others injured, while commercial vehicles were damaged. It also claimed to have attacked the military convoy at three other locations in the Charsar area.
The BLA further claimed that six Pakistani personnel were killed in a remote-controlled IED blast near Makai in Kalat district when security forces entered an abandoned bunker to provide security for military vehicles.
It said another IED attack on a Pakistani Army vehicle near Hoshab in the Tal’ area on August 17 killed two personnel and injured four others.
The group also claimed to have seized two commercial vehicles on the Chagai trade route at Charsar and targeted another commercial vehicle at Nokchah on the same day. On the Nushki-Kharan route at Zareen Jungle, it said the tyres of two commercial vehicles were damaged, while a highway blockade was maintained for several hours on the Kharan-Quetta route at Pitkin.
The BLA said its fighters established blockades at Pitok and Zeek in Basima and Gadar in Surab on August 16, conducting vehicle checks for several hours. At Zeek, it claimed, an attempt by Pakistani Army personnel to advance was repelled, resulting in six personnel being killed and four injured, with one military vehicle severely damaged.
The group also claimed that several Pakistani security personnel were killed or injured during clashes on the night of August 10-11.
The BLA said it would continue its so-called “economic blockade” against Pakistani military movements, projects linked to what it describes as exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources, and economic activities associated with the security forces.
It warned drivers, contractors and traders against supplying rations or logistical assistance to Pakistani forces in Zamuran and adjoining areas, saying those who failed to comply would be held responsible for any resulting loss of life or property.
The group said highway blockades on key commercial routes would be expanded and vowed to continue its armed campaign until what it described as the “national liberation” of Balochistan.
